While working at The Martin Agency (a communications firm named the number one creative agency in America) I led creative teams and worked on its 10-person board.
This produced a lot of practical business experience in addition to brand development and marketing campaign know how.
Clients have included: Wrangler, Virginia State Tourism, Coty Perfume, US West, Sheltering Arms Hospital, The American Cancer Society, Virginia State Industrial Development, Paramount Kings Dominion, Riggs Bank, Chesapeake Bank, The Virginia Department of Health, Richmond First Baptist Church, Rappahannock Yachts.
I’m the founder of the VCU Brandcenter, a premier graduate program at Virginia Commonwealth University.
Its cross-functional teams focus on consumer research, writing, art direction, creative brand management and creative experience design.
The school’s alumni manage brands and develop creative communications for Google, Apple, Nike, Coke, Facebook, Adidas, Gatorade, Square Space, REI, Microsoft, Old Spice, Pokeman, Paypal and more.
15 Super Bowl ads were created by grads in the past year alone.
My creative work led to over 100 national/international awards for creativity from the industry’s toughest competitions.
These include Lions from the Cannes Festivals, International Clios, One Club gold and silver, Art Directors Global Awards and recognition from Communications Arts & Design, Graphis, and Lurzer’s Archive. My creative work has also been published in Print Magazine, Reader’s Digest, and Forbes.
Creative recognition is great but not without proven sales. My work has also garnered Effies for effectiveness.
In fall of 2017, I was inducted into the industry’s Hall of Fame for educators by the One Club.
My experience educating master’s level students taught me a lot of good lessons that I put to use when coaching my business clients.
On a local level, I was honored to be named Ad Person of the Year by the Richmond Ad Club and one of the YWCA’s Outstanding Women.
